Specifically, in the area of western Westmoreland county home buyers can benefit from a median sales price of under $150,000. This coupled with low tax rates, highly ranked schools such as Franklin Regional schools, Norwin Schools, Penn Trafford Schools, and a short commute into the city of Pittsburgh, home buyers can get a lot for their dollar spent. Western Pennsylvania and the suburbs of Pittsburgh have been ranked as one of the most affordable places to live amongst 300 cities across the United States. Communities such as Irwin, North Huntingdon, Penn Township, Murrysville, Hempfield, Manor, Trafford, Greensburg, Export and, Delmont are all about 1 hour or less from beautiful mountain views in Ligonier PA, or white water rafting or other outdoor activities such as canoeing, hiking, rock climbing and fishing at Ohiopyle PA. Many of these communities also boast their own recreation areas and offer playgrounds, sports fields, and community classes such as swimming.
Western PA, Low crime rates, New Housing
In addition to affordability and great schools many parts of western Pennsylvania are areas that have low crime rates with safe living statistically speaking. Other nearby areas such as Penn Township feature entry level luxury in communities such as Crimson Pointe where prices start as low as the 300s, but homes as high as $1,000,000 have been built in the plan. Right across route 130 in Penn Township Penn Glade features many entry level luxury homes at a slightly higher average price than Crimson Pointe. In nearby Murrysville, just bordering Alleghany County there is an abundance of luxury properties for those wanting the convenience of location, while still paying a much lower tax than home owners’ right across the Westmoreland County Line. Little pockets throughout the township hide million dollar homes, making Murrysville have the highest average sales price of any township in Westmoreland County.
